Committee passes bill to make noose-hanging a crime Hermes Birkin 40cm

By Ann Stamler As one of the bipartisan group of sponsors of Fairfield's proposed Reusable Bag Ordinance, I thank Marianne Regan for both her scholarship concerning the negative impact of various plastics on our environment, and her passion and imagination in support of introducing environmentally friendly substances to replace them. About a year ago, following the example of my mother-in-law in Stony Creek, Conn., who worked decades ago to educate her community on the value of recycling, I began using cloth bags for all my grocery shopping. During several trips to Europe in Hermes Outlet prior years, I had already learned that this is the norm for consumers in Italy, France and parts of Eastern Europe. I am only sorry it took me so long to follow suit.As a member of the Legislative and Administrative Committee of Fairfield's Representative Town Meeting, however, I must take exception to Professor Regan's misstatement of fact ("Too much power in one committee's hands," Connecticut Post, Aug. 25).The committee did not "table" this ordinance. We were unable to take any action, due Hermes Wallet to lack of a quorum. I strongly object to the damaging and personally offensive suggestion that we as a committee deliberately acted to "derail" this ordinance -- which is simply untrue. Whatever any individual member's opinion was, we have considered many ordinances in the past to which we may have had personal exceptions; however, knowing our charge as a committee is to consider form, not content, we have moved those ordinances on. I have enough faith in the integrity of my colleagues to be confident that, had they not been absent for legitimate reasons, we would have done the same in this case.Regarding the suggestion that we postpone one of our summer meetings and "muster a quorum" at the other (as if we need to make a special effort to do the job each of us has worked to earn and most of us faithfully perform no matter what the season or weather), it would be unfair, and probably a violation of our town's charter, to set a separate schedule for any one committee.Like every committee, the Legislative and Administrative Committee is governed by the "Rules to Regulate" of Fairfield's RTM, which sets forth a fixed procedure and timetable for introduction of an ordinance
