Lowell youth accused of Hermes Bags stealing bag full of cash

LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — Lowell police Hermes Bags have arrested a 12-year-old boy they say stole a bag containing nearly $3,700 in cash from a food booth at a city festival last weekend.

Police say the boy went to the Hellenic American Academy's booth at the Lowell Folk Festival on Saturday and said he was a volunteer who needed cash to make change for another organization at the fair.

The Sun (bit.ly/T1Uetd ) reports that booth workers were suspicious and didn't give him any money, but discovered after he left that a knapsack containing cash was missing.

EMTs working the fair discovered the boy in an alley surrounded by piles of cash and informed police.

The boy claimed he found the money.

His name was not released because of his Hermes Outlet age. He faces larceny charges in Juvenile Court.
